Children and Adolescents are faced with a variety of challenges today as they navigate through life and they often do not feel comfortable talking to parents and caregivers about these issues and resulting feelings. Our trained therapists are here to assist in navigating through these challenging waters.
We believe in taking an eclectic approach to therapy by using various methods including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy (Directive and Non-Directive), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic/Insight-Oriented Therapy, Psycho-Education, Parenting Education and Client-Centered Therapy. Our focus is on building skills to assist in navigating life more smoothly and, ultimately, achieving greater self-awareness and personal growth. Our sessions are tailored to meet your child's unique needs. Our goal is to ensure that you and your child feel comfortable and emotionally safe in an accepting therapeutic environment in which you and your child are actively participating in the treatment process.
Play Therapy will often be employed in working with your child or adolescent. Play Therapy provides a familiar, comfortable and safe atmosphere where your child can express themselves, try new things, learn about how the world works, develop appropriate social skills, and work through their problems. The hands-on less-verbal approach to Play Therapy may give your child or adolescent an opportunity to explore and open up more than traditional "talk therapy" allows. If your child or adolescent is more verbal and expressive, "talk therapy", combined with Play Therapy and other meaningful and appropriate activities, will be utilized to explore and meet your child's needs.
